Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara

Driving Distance: 205 km

Driving Duration: 6–7 hours

Altitude: Kathmandu (1,400 m) → Pokhara (822 m)

Your Himalayan adventure begins with a scenic drive along the famous Prithvi Highway. Following the Trishuli River through green hills, waterfalls, terraced villages, and dramatic landscapes, the journey offers a beautiful introduction to Nepal’s countryside.

Upon arrival in Pokhara, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Nepal’s beautiful lake city beneath the Annapurna range.

Overnight: Pokhara

Day 2 – Drive from Pokhara to Matkyu & Trek to Chhomrong

Driving Distance: Approx. 42 km

Driving Duration: 2 hours

Trekking Duration: 4–5 hours

Trekking Distance: Approx. 8 km

Altitude: Chhomrong (2,170 m)

Overnight: Chhomrong

After breakfast, drive through terraced hills and traditional villages toward Matkyu. The trek begins with beautiful mountain scenery and gradual uphill trails leading to Chhomrong, the gateway to the Annapurna Sanctuary.

From the village, enjoy magnificent views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre.

Day 3 – Trek from Chhomrong to Dovan

Trekking Duration: 5–6 hours

Trekking Distance: Approx. 11 km

Altitude: Dovan (2,600 m)

Overnight: Dovan

 

Today’s trail descends to the Chhomrong Khola before climbing through lush bamboo and rhododendron forests. Passing Sinuwa, Bamboo, and peaceful river valleys, the trail gradually reaches Dovan beside the Modi Khola river.

The sound of flowing water and deep forest creates a peaceful Himalayan atmosphere.

Day 4 – Trek from Dovan to Deurali

Trekking Duration: 5–6 hours

Trekking Distance: Approx. 10 km

Altitude: Deurali (3,230 m)

Overnight: Deurali

The landscape slowly transforms from dense forest into dramatic alpine terrain. Trek past Himalaya and Hinku Cave as glacier valleys and towering cliffs appear around you.

This is one of the most scenic sections of the Annapurna Sanctuary trail.

Day 5 – Trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp

Trekking Duration: 5–6 hours

Trekking Distance: Approx. 8 km

Altitude: Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m)

Overnight: Annapurna Base Camp

 

Today is the most rewarding day of the trek.

Passing Machhapuchhre Base Camp, the trail opens into the magnificent Annapurna Sanctuary surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks. The final approach to Annapurna Base Camp is unforgettable  a natural amphitheatre of snow-covered mountains rising in every direction.

Day 6 – Sunrise at ABC & Trek to Bamboo/Dovan

Trekking Duration: 6–7 hours

Trekking Distance: Approx. 16 km

Altitude: Bamboo/Dovan (2,300–2,600 m)

Overnight: Bamboo or Dovan

Wake early for a magical Himalayan sunrise over Annapurna I and Machhapuchhre. As golden morning light touches the snowy peaks, the sanctuary becomes one of the most beautiful places on earth.

After breakfast, descend through MBC, Deurali, and Himalaya toward Bamboo or Dovan.

Day 7 – Trek from Bamboo/Dovan to Jhinu Danda

Trekking Duration: 5–6 hours

Trekking Distance: Approx. 13 km

Altitude: Jhinu Danda (1,780 m)

Overnight: Jhinu Danda

 

Retrace the trail through Chhomrong before descending to Jhinu Danda, famous for its natural hot springs beside the Modi Khola river.

This relaxing mountain village is the perfect place to rest after completing the Annapurna Sanctuary journey.

Day 8 – Hot Springs • Trek to Samrung & Drive to Pokhara

Trekking Duration: 1–2 hours

Trekking Distance: Approx. 3 km

After breakfast, descend to the famous natural hot springs for a relaxing bath beside the Modi River. Surrounded by forest and mountain scenery, it is the perfect way to conclude your Himalayan adventure.

Later, hike to Samrung and drive back to Pokhara through beautiful countryside landscapes.

Arrive in Pokhara by afternoon or evening with unforgettable memories of the Annapurna Sanctuary.
